The vessel had reached the southern end of New Zealand and was passing through very tempestuous weather when ten ,of the crew refused duty on the ground that the vessel was unseaworthy. TheTrefractory members of the crew consisted of three Australians, three Scotchmen, one Frenchman and three Englishmen. jThey threatened the Italian members of the crew, and one night attacked the second officer.
