METHODIST CHURCH.
FAREWELL SOCIAL TO MR . AND MRS DANIELL. . At the Masterton MethodistChurch, last evening, the men>bers of the congregation of the church tendered a farewell social to Mr and Mrs C. E. Daniell, who wii¥ leaveshortly on a trip to England The Rev. J. N. Buttle occupied the chair,, and there was a very large attendance. The Chairman, during the courseof a eulogistic address, spoke of Mr Daniell's valuable. services to the church fgenerally and his efforts to promote its interests. He wished Mr and Mrs Daniell a pleasant trip and hoped they would return much, benefited by it. Messrs J. Heyhoe. R. Burton, S. Ralph and W. M. Easthope spoke in a similar strain. All the speakers referred to the services Mr Daniell had rendered in church and civic matters. They hoped he would return renewed in health and vigour to continue his good work. Mr Daniell suitably acknowledged the remarks made by the speakers. During the course of his trip, he said, he would visit various parts of Europe, Egypt, and Jerusalem. He had a number of letters of introduction from people in New Zealand to friends in the Old Country, and fie felt sure that his holiday would be an enjoyable one and he wOiild return the better for it. Puring the evening musical items were rendered by Misses M. Perry, B. Joy, M. Church, E. Judd, Mesdames Edwards and H. Vibert, Messrs E. Chilton, S. Ralph and J. Nicol. The accompaniments were played by Miss L. Church and Mr H. Inns. Refreshments were provided by the ladies, and the evening was brought to a close by the singing of the National Anthem.
