EKETAHUNA COUNTY COUNCIL.
(From Our Own Correspondent). The monthly meeting of the Eketahuna County Council was held on Saturday. There were present—Crs Moss (Chairman), Dawson, Dorn'ey, Falkner, and Redpath. It was decided to hold over the appointment of an assessor to the Valuation Court until next meeting. A letter was received from the Valuer-General advising the Council that no exception could be taken by the ratepayers of the Town area,to the County issuing the new roll for rating purposes; also advising the Council that the resolution making the general rates for 1906-1907 was in order. The Colonial Secretary wrote asking the Council to prepare a statement of accounts between the County Council and Town Board. The Clerk was instructed to prepaie the required Statement. An offer of £lO was received from Mr Luoni towards the cost of erecting a swing bridge at Hamua. It was decided to inform Mr Luoni that his offer was under consideration by the Council. It was decided to inform Mr Mowbray that a committee, consisting of the Chairman and Crs Falkner, would visit the bridge site at Hamua at an early,date. The Council approved of tne design and strength of Larsen's bridge as shown on the plans and described in the specifications prepared by Mr J. Dawson. On completion, of the structure, the Council decided to accept full charge of it. The Council also approved of the plan of an eight feet bridge on the Mangaone Road. Cr Redpath applied, on behalf of Mr S. Drysdale, for permission to take some metal from Priest's Road. The matter was left in the hands of the Overseer. The Overseer was granted leave of absence for ten days.
