BRITAIN AND THE COLONIES.
LONDON, February 8. Mr Lyttelton, who was Secretary of State for the Colonies in the Balfour Administration, speaking at Guildford, said the fact of Mr Winston Churchill welcoming colonial preference removed every objection in principle to preference between the Motherland and the colonies. The matter now was merely one of machinery and adjustment. The Westminster Gazette declares that the Liberals only welcome preference conceded to the Motherland as evidence of the colonies' goodwill,. and as an advance towards Free trade. >
