Received February 8, 8.30 a.m. NEW YORK, February 7. Mr Delmas f instead of Mr Greasori, now leads in Thaw's defence, the latter and others having threatened to"relinquish their briefs owing to a fiasco on Tuesday'with a weak witness.

MRS THAW'S EVIDENCE. Received February 8, 9.18 p.m. NEW YORK, February 8. Thaw's wife, subjected to a painful interrogatory, testified as to how Stanford White ensnared and ruined her before she was 16 years of age. Hence she at first refused to marry Thaw, and when pressed for a reason she informed Thaw of the whole circumstances. Thaw was greatly distressed, and declared that any decent person would know that it was.not her fault. Witness testified impressively throughout, and described the tragedy and the scene immediately preceding it. , Received February 9, 12.48 a.m. NEW YORK, February 8. Mrs Thaw also testified that White drugged her prior to ruining her. Received February 9, 12.56 a.m. y LONDON, February 8. Reute? reports that everybody in the Court was moved by the spectacle •of a beautiful young wife sacrificing all that was dearer than life to save her husband. Her bearing was timid, almost childlike. The effect on the jury was marked, and the harrowing recital seemed addressed directly to them. Thaw himself sobbed.
