WEDDING.

WELCH-BROWN. A pretty wedding was celebrated at S. Matthew's Church, yesterday, afternoon, the contracting parties being Mr E. J. Welch, eldest son of Mr James Welch, junr., of "Willow Park," Opaki, and Miss Jessie Brown, youngest daughter of Mr W. Brown, of Onehunga. The bride was given away by her father, and was attired in a dress of cream silk with chiffon trimmings. She also wore the orthodox veil and orange blossoms and carried a pretty shower bouquet. The bridesmaids were Miss M. Thompson, of Timaru, and Miss Ivy Welch. Both wore dainty dresses of cream check lustre trimmed with lace and ribbon, and pink hats trimmed with roses. They carried pink bouquets. Mr N. McLachlan was best'man, and Mr W. Hope was groomsman. The was performed by the Rev. A. M. Johnson, M.A. After the ceremony a reception was held in the Foresters' Hall, at which a large number of guests were present. The usual toasts were honoured, and good wishes extended to the newly-wedded couple. |j The bride's present to the bridegroom was a gold guard, and the bridegroom's present to the bride was a handsome brooch set with rubies and diamonds. The bridegroom presented each of the bridesmaids with a gold chain bangle. The presents received by the newly-wedded couple were numerous and costly. Mr and Mrs E. J. Welch left by the afternoon train for Christchurch, where the honeymoon will be spent.
