A CRICKETER SUSPENDED.

By Telegraph —Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 2. A special meeting of the Canterbury Cricket Association was held .tonight with regard to the trouble that has'occurred between S. T. Callaway, the well-known bowler, and the committee of the association. Callaway failed to play for Canterbury in the match with Wellington, and the committee of the associa, tion, at a meeting on Tuesday night, after hearing an explanation from him, resolved that the hon. secretary of the association should be instructed to omit Callaway's name from the list of representative players available for the New Zealand matches against the Marylebone team. On receiving this resolution, the council this evening passed the fol lowing motion:—"That in view of S. T. Callaway publishing a letter written by himself to the Canterbury Cricket Association containing offensive and misleading statements, this committee suspend Callaway from taking part in any cricket under the jurisdiction of the Canterbury Cricket Association till he sees fit to publicly withdraw his letter."
