ENGLISH UNIVERSITIES.
Received February 4, 9.5 a.m. LONDON, February 3, The Protestant prelates of Ireland have protested against Mr Bryce's silence, which they declare is calculated to depreciate Dublin degrees and imperil the connection of the Dublin University with Oxford and Cambridge. (In a recent speech delivered at Dublin last month Mr Bryce announced the intention of the Government to create a new college, without any kind\ of theological test or grant from public funds, for theological purposes. The Royal University would be dissolved and the Dublin University would become a' national institution, which would include Trinity College, Dublin. Mr Bryce stated it was projected to establish another college in Dublin, and colleges at Belfast and Cork).
