MOUNT HOLDSWORTH TRACK.
With reference to improving the track up Mount Holdsworth the Secretary of the Mount Holdsworth Track Committee received the following letter from Mr T. E. Donne, General Manager of the Tourist Department: —"I am in receipt of your letter of the 14th instant, in reference to improving the means of access to Mount Holdsworth. I am glad to hear that your committee has been successful in raising sufficient founds to do some very useful work in this direction. With regard to your that this Department should provide the sum of £SO, to assist your committee in conducting improvements in the way of erecting shelter huts, I have to inform you that the matter has been placed before the Government, and I hope to be able to give you a reply*at an early date. I note your remarks regardine: Dr. Cockayne's opinion of the beauty of the mountain flora in this district. When opportunity oilers I shall be pleased to send an officer of this Department to visit the mountain. I have to thank you for your generous offer to provide him with guide, etc."
