AUSTRALASIAN CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING. By Telegraph —Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 2. The Australasian Amateur Swimming Championship Meeting opened this afternoon, at the Lancaster Park baths, in perfect weather. The following are the principal results: — 100 Yards Australasian Championship.—First heat: H. Baker, New South Wales, 1; A. R. Harromer, Queensland, 2; W. Mason, Victoria, 3. • Time, 64 2-ssec. Second heat: A. D. Hill, New South Wales, 1; G. Tyler, New Zealand, 2; P. Matson, West Australia, 3. Time, 66 4-ssec. Final: Baker, 1; Hill, 2; Harromer, 3; Tyler, 4. Time, 64 l-ssep. One Mile Australasian Championship.—F. W. Springfield, Queensland, 1; R. Healey, New South Wales, 2; A. McMillan, New Zealand, 3; W. Mason, Victoria, 4. Won by about seventy 'yards. Time, 26min 7 2-ssec. The meeting will be continued on Thursday.
