SACRED CONCERT.
A sacred concert was given in »the Town Hall, last evening, in aid of the funds of the Masterton Municipal Brass Band. The hall was filled, the amount taken at the doors, by collection, being over £lO. The programme, which proved a very enjoyable one, was opened by the Band rendering "I Lombardi,'' the test selection for the Exhibition Band Contest. The piece, which takes twenty minutes to play, was ■executed very neatly and was listened to attentively. Later on.in the evening the Band rendered the Hallelul jah Chorus. Vocal items were rendered by the following:—"Dream of Paradise," Mr W. Jago; "The Last Muster," Mr W. Iggulden; "Abide With Me," Miss Donovan; "There is a Green Hill Far Away," Miss Price. Two quartettes, entitled, "Gone is the Spirit" and "Sweet and Low," were rendered by Mrs Jago, Miss Donovan, and Messrs W. Jagp and F. J. Hurih. Miss K. Holloway'- played a violin solo, "The Broken Melody," very nicely, and Bandsman J. Elder played a solo on the tenor horn.
