MASTERTON STOCK SALES. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., lield their fortnightly sale at the Masterton yards, yesterday, when there was a heavy entry of sheep (considerably in excess of any previous yarding this season) and ! a very fair catalogue of cattle. There was a large attendance of buyers, and almost a complete clearance of sheep was effected under the hammer. With the exception of a pen of springing heifers, all cattle were sold, though prices were in favour of buyers. Four and 6 tooth w>-ll ■ grown wethers sold from 14s 8d to 14s lOd, good woolly lambs 10s Bd, others to 9s 6d, shorn store lambs 5s 3d to 7s 4d, sound mouth ewes 12s 3d to 12s 4d, aged ewes 5s 9d to 7s sd, 21 and 3-year steers 65s to 80s, slip pigs 13s 6d. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report as follows on their Masterton stock sale yesterday:—We had a good yarding of sheep, embracing all classes, and the quality generally was good. Bidding was somewhat irregular, sound, good-conditioned stock in every case meeting with a ready sale, in fact before the close of the day we had made a clearance. In cattle we yarded some good quality steers, for which we had spirited bidding, all selling, as did two pens of nice quality fat steers. A large proportion of the younger steers found purchasers (yearlings and calves), but female stock failed to sell. Breeding ! ewes, fresh and sound, sold from 12s to 13s 6d, medium sorts 9s to lis 6d, •culled ewes 6s to 8s 6d, fat sheep up to 15s, small wethers 12s. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., held a sale of dairy and other stock, on account of Mr A. E. Cottle, at Kopuaranga, on Tuesday. There was a good attendance of buyers, but ■owing to the lateness of the season, the demand was limited, excepting for winter calvers, for which there was good competition. Cows for factory profit sold from £3 2s 6d to £5, winter calvers £3 5s to £5 2s 6d, aged cows £1 to £2 ss, store cows £2 2s 6d.
