PAHIATUA RACES. CUP WON BY ROYAL BLUE. By Telegraph—Press Association. PAHIATUA, January 30. The summer meeting of the Pahiatua Racing Club was held to-day in splendid weather. There was a good attendance, and the course was in excellent order. The starts were good with the exception of the Trial Hack Plate and Flying Hack Handicap. The sum put through the totalisator for the day was £5,983, against £7,092 for the corresponding day last year, being a decrease of, £1,109. Results: — Handicap Hurdles. 1| mile—Rangitoto 1, Lavinia 2, Cassiopea 3. Scratched—Matariki and Acetylene. Won by a length. Time, 3min 23 1-5 sec. Dividend. £2 7s. Railway Handicap, 6 furlongs.— Scotch Reel 1, Sunbonnet 2, Hipporofla 3. Scratched—Cyrene. Won by a head. Time, lmin 16sec. Dividend, £5 4s. Flying Hack Handicap, 6 furlongs. —Full Rate 1, Pearlie 2, Saga 3. Scratched—Sharkeyne, Miss Adeline, Houyhnhmn, Seaman, Hillspring, Robin Link, Sylvrie and Spikie. Won by half a length. Time, lmin 17 1-5 sec. Dividends, £3 16s and 15s. , Welter Hack, 1 mile.—Sandix 1, Sharkeyne 2, Pantaloon 3. Scratched —Tangeroa, Lavinia, La Torpedo, Hatley, Grand Poplar and Sipylus. Won by a head. Time, lmin 47sec. Dividends, £4 4s and £1 13s. PAHIATUA CUP, of 165 sovs; 11 mile. Mr R. Knox's Royal Blue, 7.9 (Reid) ! Mr Sands' Nova, 7.0 (Price) 2 Mr Lambert's Makikihi, 7.0 (Cameron) 3 Scratched—Whakawehi and Southern Cross. This was the best race of the day. Passing the stand Dulcinea and Royal Blue were a couple of lengths in front of Montigo. Royal Blue was still in front at the six furlong post, but Dulcinea had given place to Makikihi. While rounding the top turn Montigo ran up to the leaders. The race was ridden to a finish, and a great struggle ended in Royal Blue winning by half a length from Nova; Makikihi the same distance away third. Time, 2min 10 l-ssec. Dividends, £4 9s and 17s. Of the £1,141 on the totalisator, £173 was on the winner., f Telegraph Stakes, 5 furlongs.— Cyrene 1, Waicola 2, San Julie 3.
