MASS MEETING OF UNEMPLOYED.
Received January 30, 9.43 p.m. JOHANNESBURG, Jan. 30. A mass meeting of Johannesburg unemployed decided to petition Mr J. B. Robinson to relieve the misery that was fast driving them to ruin and despair. The Government are also to be memorialised to expatriate the unemployed. AN INTENDED BARGAIN. Received January 30, 8.30 a.m. JOHANNESBURG, Jan. 29. The Johannesburg Star says the visit of Mr Smuts to London in 1906 was undertaken with the object of entering into a bargain with a mining house in connection with compensation as a set-oif for noninterference in the mining industry. The capitalists, however, adds the Star, refused to negotiate. , A ZULU CHIEF. Received January 30, 8.30 a.m. PIETERMARITZBURG, Jan. 29. Dinizulu's half-brother, and Cetewayo's youngest son, has" been appointed chief of two tribes in Zululand.
