THE PRESIDENT AND TRUSTS. A SENSATIONAL SPEECH. Received January 30, 10.57 p.m. NEW YORK, January 30. President Roosevelt attended the annual dinner of the Gridiron Club, an Association of Washington correspondents of the principal American newspapers. Senator Foraker, in a violent and offensive speech, attacked President Roosevelt, prophesying that the policy against great corporations would cause disaster to the countiy. President Roosevelt, in an angry reply, warned Messrs Morgan, Rogers, and other representatives of trusts that if they were unwilling to accept the action of a Government which was ready to protect rich and poor alike, the time would come when they would find themselves face to face with a people believing they wei'e being deprived of their rights and a mob which would not in the least respect their'riches. A great sensation has b,een produced. .
