THE LONDON SENSATION.
VERDICT OF WILFUL MURDER. Received January 29, 8.36 a.m. LONDON, January 28. A verdict of wilful murder has been returned against Rayner, who shot Mr Whiteley, the "Universal Provider," a few days ago. The Daily Mail has discovered a gentleman who asserts that Rayner often received money from Mr Whiteley. Received January 29, 10.13 p.m. LONDON,' January 29. The! evidence" of the police at the inquest on Mr Whiteley clearly pointed to blackmailing. George Rayner stated that he had grave reason to doubt that he was the father of accused, but he kept his promise to accused's mother to educate and bring up the child.
