LAWN TENNIS.
The Wairarapa Championship Meeting was concluded, yesterday, on the Masterton Club's courts in favourable weather. There were a number of spectators, and some really fine play was witnessed. The secretary, Mr N. D. Bunting, had all arrangements complete, and the meeting was certainly one, if not the most successful yet held under the auspices of the Club. Following are the results:— Men's Championship Singles.—P. M. B. Fisher beat S. Powdrell, 6—l, 6—l; T. R. Quill beat Rev. T. McKenna, 6—2, 6—l; C. C. Cox beat F. M. B. Fisher, 6 —l, 2 —6, B—6; T. R. Quill won from H. A. Parker by default. Final: C. C. Cox beat T. R. Quill, 6—3, 6—2. Ladies' Championship Singles. Final: Miss Powdrell beat Miss Booth, 9—o. Men's Championship Doubles.— Fisher and McCaul beat Powdrell and Rutherford, 6—5, 6-0; Parker and Quill beat Bunny and Bunting, 6—2, 6—l. Final: Parker and Quill beat Fisher and McCaul, 6 —4, 6 4. Combined Championship Doubles. —Cox and Miss Powdrell beat Pearce and Miss Payton, 9—2; Parker and Miss Hughes beat Bunny and Miss Booth, 9—2. Final: Cox and Miss Powdrell beat Parker and Miss HUghes, 9 —5. Men's Handicap Singles (first grade, 70 points). Fisher beat Grady, 71—69; Bunny beat McShane, 70—58; McCaul beat Gawith, 72—70; FisKer beat Croft, 70—58; McCaul beat Bunny, 70—58. Final: Fisher won by default from McCaul. Ladies' Handicap Singles (50 points).—Miss Powdrell beat Miss Hughes, 50—47. Final: Miss Powdrell beat Miss Birch, 50 —48. , Men's Handicap Doubles (70 points) —Cox and Pearse won from Swan and Donald by default; Parker and Quill beat D. Caselberg and Rishworth, 70—51; Bunny and Bunting beat Grady and Rowley, 70 —62; Cox and Pearse beat Powdrell and Rutherford,. 70—61; Parker and Quill beat Fisher and McCaul, 70— 65; Sclanders and Moodie beat Bunny and Bunting, 71—69; Cox and Pearse beat Croft and Gawith, 70—63; Sclanders and Moodie beat Parker and Quill, 70—62. Final: Cox and Pearse beat Sclanders and Moodie, 70—65. Combined Handicap Doubles (50 i points). —Parker and Miss Birch beat Pearse and Miss Murray, 50—47; Barker and Miss Birch beat Bunny and Miss Booth, 50—32; Fisher and "Miss Payton beat Parker and Miss Birch, 50—45. Final: Cox and Miss Powdrell beat Fisher and Miss Payton, 50 —45. Ladies' Handicap Doubles (50 points).—Final: Misses Powdrell and Payton beat Misses Birch and Murray, 50 —42.
