AN INCORRECT STATEMENT.

(To the Editor). Sir,—lt is being rumoured through the town that the "Masterton South Band" was defeated by the "Municipal Band" in obtaining the playing at the sports on January 22nd. I would like to state here that there is no foundation in the rumour whatever, for the simple reason that the Masterton South Band was never asked for their price for playing at the snorts. Neither myself nor any member of the committee received any word asking the band for their terms. Therefore, it is impossible to be defeated in what we never entered for. Hoping further reports will cease.—l am, etc. hj: G. KEMP, Secretary Masterton South Band. Walton's Avenue, January 17th, 1907.
