' GORE RACES. By Telegraph—Press Association. ' GORE, January 16. The summer meeting of the Gore Pacing Club commenced to-day. The course was in good order. The sum of £3,135 was put through the machine, as against £3,141 for the corresponding day last year. Results: — Croydon Handicap, 7 furlongs.— Secret 1, Manjess 2, Rosebloom 3. Casque was scratched. Won a fine race by a short head. Time, lmin 32 1-5 sec. Dividend, £6 2s. Longford Hack Handicap 6 furlongs.—Royal Shell 1, Magical 2, Hornet 3. All started. Won easily. Time, lmin 19 3-ssec. Dividends, £l2 4s and £1 2s. GORE CUP, of 70 sovs; 11 imle. 73 Scrapiron Jack, 8.0 ... 1 87 Astrakhan 6.10 ... 2 190 Notus. 9.0 3 Also started—l 23 Idasa. 74 Black Friar, 54 Sirius, 32 Delarey. Astrakhan made the running for threequarters of a mile. Scrapiron Jack then went to the front, and won a fine race by a neck; Notus half a length nway third. Tutu and Margaret fought out a great finish, the latter winning hy nearly half a length; third horse three lengths away. Time, 4min Usee.
