A Gisborne telegram states that Graham Higgins, aged nine year?, who was drowned in the Waimata River, on Tuesday evening, lost his life, in trying to save his brother. The past month has been exceptionally suitable for the purpose of laying rabbit poison, and the officers of the department report that the work has been very successfully car-, ried out. At the same time they state that sqttlers and runholders. should still further persevere with poisoning operations while the fine weather lasts, and before feed becomes plentiful. +
