HYPNOTIC ACT WHICH ALARMED PRINCESSES.
A mild sensation has been caused throughout Bulgaria by the Sofia police prohibiting the sensational act of a "hypnotic dancer'" known as the "Lady Butterfly." Admirably advertised, the fair artist drew a crowded house at which the young Princesses and Prince Ferdinand were present. Beginning with a pretty fluttering step the lady butterfly gradually whirled herself into what was described on the programme as a "state of ethereal hypnotism," and suddenly with a deafening report disappeared in a cloud of flame and smoke. Children, including the Princesses, shrieked, women fainted, officers and police were already in pursuit of the supposed bombthrower, when the smoke cleared away and a fiery skeleton with the wings of a butterfly was seen dancing in the actresses' red shoes. But that was "Lady Butterfly's" first and final performance in-Sofia.
