■ ■■* • : ~ (From .Our Own Correspondent. EKETAHUNA, January 15. Mr F. J. Tonkin, who is leaving here to reside in Hastings, ■was last evening the lecipient of a handsome present from the past and present members of the Eketahuna Brass Band, with which body Mr Tonkin has been associated for the past fourteen years. In making the presentation Mr R. J. McLean spoke in eulogistic terms of the services Mr Tonkin had rendered to the Band Members of the local -branch of the Oddfellows' Lodge also took advantage of the occasion to make a suitable present to Brother Tonkin as a token of their esteem. The weather here has been very unsettled. On Sunday night there was" a fairly heavy downpour of rain. All the rivers in the district are now flooded.
