A CHIEF OF POLICE MURDERED. Received January 14, 8.2 a.m. ST. PETERSBURG, Jan. 13. M. Breshesnivoski, Chief of Police in the Dagestan province of Caucasia, has been murdered. The assassin escaped. RAID ON REVOLUTIONARIES' QUARTERS. Received January 14, 8.20 a.m. ST. PETERSBURG, Jan. 13. A strong force of police raided the Okhto quarter of St. Petersburg at night, and captured three revolutionaries. The latter fought with revolvers, drove the police into the courtyard, and ecsaped after killing, a policeman.A TRAIN ACCIDENT. MANY PASSENGERS KILLED. Received January 14, 8.20 a.m. ST. PETERSBURG, Jan. 13. A train ran over an embankment at Briansk, in Russia. Many passengers were killed. RELIEF FOR PEASANTS. Received January 14, 10.11 p.m. ST. PETERSBURG, Jan. 14. Owing to bad harvests the Russian Govenment propose to spend £7,157,000 in supplying the peasants with bread and seed. The Government declare that there is a wide field for private charity. A RESCRIPT. Received January 14, 9.21 p.m. ST. PETERSBURG, Jan. 14. The Czar, in a rescript, claims that M. Stolypin's energetic action effected a distinct improvement in public order,, despite the foolhardy crimes of the revolutionaries, which were designed to throw the Government into confusion. The Czar claims credit for instituting numerous reforms before the Duma assembled.
