LONDON WOOL SALES. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., "Wellington, have received the following cable from their London House, dated the 7th instant: —Wool: The list of arrivals is closed. The new arrivals have amounted to 274,500 bales, of which 125,000 bales have been forwarded direct to manu- j facturers at Home and abroad, leaving 151,500 bales available for sale (this includes 2,000 bales carried forward from November sales). Market very firm and tending upwards. MASTERTON STOCK SALE. Messrs 'Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report as follows on their sale, held yesterday More stock in both sheep and cattle came forward than was advertised. Owing to the present dry spell of weather, bidding at auction was lifeless and vendors were forced to accept prices considerably lower than those ruling lately. We quote: —Sheep: Two-tooth ewes 13s Bd, mixed 2-tooths (black face) 14s, 2-tooth wethers 14s 3d to 15s 3d, small 2-tooth wethers 9s, 2 and 4tooth wethers 14s 3d, rape lambs (shorn) 9s 4d, old ewes 5s to 6s lOd. Cattle: Fat cows (light) £4, cows ; and calves £2 5s to £3 ss, store cows (old) 31s to 40s, yearling steers 38s to £2 10s 6d, mixed steers and heifers (15 months) £2 to £2 ss. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Wool arrivals to date are 274,413 bales; sent forward 125,000; available for ensuing sales, 132,000. CANTERBURY WOOL SALE. CHRISTCHURCH, January 9. The third wool sale of this season's series was held at the Canterbury Hall, to-day, when 15,569 bales were catalogued. There was a large attendance of Home, Continental and' local buyers, and competition was ! exceptionally keen. The catalogues •contained a good proportion of station clips, the Merino being of better quality than that offered at the previous sales. All descriptions of halfbred were very firm, and prices if anything in advance of those ruling at the previous sale. There appeared to be no change in crossbreds, but Merino sold better. Very few lots were passed in, and the sale concluded to-night. The range of prices •were as follows Super. Merino, 12d tol3|d; medium, 10£ d to llfd; Inferior, 9Jd to 10Jd; quarter-bred, 12d to 14Jd; super, halfbred, 13d to 15d; medium, lid to 12Jd; inferior, lOd to 10|d; Corriedale, Hid to 14£ d; super, three-quarter-bred, 12d to 13d; medium, 10Jd to llgd; inferior, 9fd to 10Jd; super, crossbred, 12d to 12Jd; medium, lOd to llfd; inferior, 9d to 9|d; long wool, 9|d to 10|d; Shropshire, lOd to 12d; Merino, pieces, B|d to 10§d; first halfbred pieces, lOd to 13d; second pieces, BJd to 9|d; first crossbred pieces, 8d to lOd; second pieces, 6d to 7£d; locks, 5d to 7Jd. The highest price clip was ,T. Phillips. Point Eakaia, whose Merino sold up to 13|d, and halfbred 15d; Culverden Merino made up to 13Jd; Gerald Merino, 13d, and halfbred 14|d; Mount Somers halfbred, 14fd; and ■ Commebach 14Jd.
