MASTERTON MUNICIPAL BAND.
The Masterton Municipal Band, assisted by the members of the Fire Brigade, have decided to hold a picnic and sports meeting in the Park Oval on Thursday, January 17th, for the purpose of raising funds to enable the Band to attend the Christchurch Exhibition Contest. A novel and attractive programme of events has been arranged, including Fire Brigade, running, and cycling events, bowling competition, and tilting the ring, for which good prizes and tro- | phies will be given. The afternoon will be devoted practically to the picnic and children's sports. Hot water and refreshments will be obtainable. In the evening, commencing at 6 o'clock, the cycling, running, and Fire Brigade events will be decided. The Volunteers will give a display, and Mr Groombridge an exhibiton of wire-walking. The evening's enter tainment will conclude with a short concert programme and dancing on he green. \
