The monthly meeting of the Board of Management of the above institution was held last evening. There were present:—Mr P. L. Rollings (chairman), Rev. A. M. Johnson, A. Donald, 0. C. Feist, D. E. Parton and A. J. Parton, Secretary and TrGflsursr. The appointment of Mr Sydney Earee to the position of Treasurer was confirmed. The following new members were elected:—Fredk. E., Leeks, F. G. Wayne, and A. F. Billington. Several applications for membership were held over pending further arrangements being made in the matter of age limit. The Rev. A M. Johnson moved in the direction of calling a special general meeting of members for the purpose of altering Rule 5 with a view to admitting to membership any person between the ages of 16 and 18 years on the recommendation of any member of the Board. A considerable amount of correspondence was received from Mr Lyman L. Pierce, National Secretary, with respect to his forthcoming visit to New Zealand. Mr Pierce gave the Board the option of choosing the 18th, 19th, 20th or 21st of February as a suitable date for his visit to Masterton. As the .later dates will clash with the Show and cricket match (Englishmen v. Wairarapa), it was decided to invite Mr Pierce to visit Masterton on February 18th.* A committee, consisting of the Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and Mr A. J. Parton was set up to make arrangements to meet and entertain Mr Pierce. , ir n The resignation of Mr W. &. Chamberlain from his position on the Board was accepted with regret, and Rev. A. T. Thompson was elected to fill the vacancy. Some consideration was given to an application from the Cricket Club for financial assistance. It was decided to ask the Treasurer to submit a balance-sheet at the next meeting. The Treasurer was instructed to circularise members drawing their attention to Rule 20, which gives the Board power to cancel the membership of those whose subscriptions are six months in arrears. \ The Board formed itself into a committee to confer with the ladies auxiliary with a view to arranging for a Garden Party as soon as possible. A' satisfactory report was received from the custodian. The Gymnasium Committee is to be requested to submit a scheme for the carrying out of gymnasium work during the coming winter. A vote of thanks was passed to the ladies for the able manner in which they had assisted at the recent picnic.
