WELLINGTON WOOL AND SKIN SALES.
Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., report as follows regarding Friday's sale:— We offered a small catalogue of wool, 2,300 skins, 200 hides, and a quantity of tallow and horsehair. Wool —Only bag wool offered to-day. We quote: ■Coarse crossbred in bags 9d to lOd, •inferior and logstained 8d to B|d, pieces and bellies 6Jd to 7£d, locks >4d to 4£d. Skins—Market steady at last sale rates. We quote: Merinos 71d to BJd, fine crossbred 9d to 9|d, coarse crossbred BJd to 9Jd, dead skins 6id to 7£d, dead hoggets *>Jd to 7Jd, dry pelts 7d to 7|d, lambs skins 8d to B|d, woolly green skins 8s to 8s 9d, green lamb skins 2s lOd to 3s 4d, green pelts Is 8d to 3s sd. Tallow—Parcels in shipping order £25 ss, tins £l7 3s to £2O 3s, rough tat £l4 3s. Horsehair Is to Is 7d per lb. Horns—l3s 3d to 20s 9d per 100. Hides—The market advanced id, and bidding was keen at the higher level. We quote: Ox hides, heavy, none offered; ox hides, 70lbs and over, 6d to 6^d; ox hides, 50lbs to 761bs, 6d to 6£d; cow hides, s|d to 6|d; calf skins, best, 6£d to ' 7§d; calf skins, slippy, 3d to sd; calf skins, cut, 5d to s£d; cut and slippy hides, 4Atd to s§d; stags' hides 4£d to sd, bull hides, 3£d to 4£d. The next sale will be held on Wednesday, January 16th, instead of Friday, January 18th, and only green skins, hides, and bag wool will be offered on that occasion. Friday, January 18th, is the date of the large wool sale. Messrs Dalgety and O&ffrpany, Ltd., report as follows:—Prices for wool and sheep skins were. firm at late rates. Hides advanced from Jd to £d,per lb. We quote: Wool —Only fadges and bag lots offered. Crossbred 9d to 9Jd, seedy crossbred Bfd, inferior lambs BJd, locks 3fd, to 4Jd. Sheepskins—We quote: Green pelts 2s 3d to 3s Id, crossbred B£d to 9d per lb, lambs 8d to B|d, green lamb pelts Is 9d each, green lambs • 3s, dead and inferior crossbred to 7|d, broken crossbred 6d to 7jd, . salted skins 4s Id each, salted pelts 2s 6d. Hides—No heavy ox offering. Medium ox 6|d to 6|d, light 6Jd, inferior s§d to sgd, cows 6£d to 6£d, inferior sfd, yearlings sd, calf skins nothing good offering) s|d to 6d, cut and inferior 4£d to sd, stags 4Jd. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report:—There was a good attendance of buyers and bidding was brisk for everything. The slight drop experienced in tallow was recovered and hides were firm. We quote: Wool in bags —Coarse crossbred 9d to 9|d, ■ dead 7f d to 9d, bellies and pieces 6£d to 7§d, locks 3|d to 4£d. Sheepskins —Dry: Half-bred 9Jd to 9|d, crossbred and full woolled B£d to 9Jd, merino 7Jd to B|d, de&d and damaged 6d to 8d per lb, lambs 7|d to BJd. Green: Full-woolled 8s 6d to 9s, pelts 2s 9d to 3s 4d, lambs 3s to, 3s 5d each. Hides—Sound ox 6£d to 6§d, sound cow 6d to 6Jd, damaged s§d to s|d, calf, sound 6fd to 7|d, damaged 3d to 5d per lb. Tallow — In casks to 25s 3d, in tins and boxes 14s 6d to 20s 3d per cwt. Our next sale will be held on Wednesday, the 16th inst.
