TRANSVAAL.
REPATRIATION OF CHINESE. CAPETOWN, January 4. The Boer Leader, Van Blommenstein, opposing Mr A. Bailey for the Krugersdorp seat, does not favour the immediate repatriation of Chinese. He considers the Imperial Government's control over the natives an obstacle to such legislation as would ensure labour from native sources. (Mr Abe Bailey, who is opposing Mr Van Blommenstein, is the wellknown mining magnate. He was formerly member for Victoria West in the Cape House of Assembly, but resigned some three years ago in order to enter politics in the Transvaal. Mr Bailey took the late South African cricket team to England his own expense. He is reputed to be worth between eight and nine millions of money).
