THE WAR STORES SCANDAL. ST. PETERSBURG, January 4. A commission of enquiry has recommended the; prosecution of General Gourko in connection with grain scandals. Two gendarmes in a street of Warsaw were killed by revolutionaries. The gendarmes in barracks rushed out and killed one pedestrian, and wounded three others. ASSASSINATION OF A GENERAL. Received January 6, 4.51 p.m. LONDON, January 5. General von der Launitz, Prefect of St. Petersburg, who was assassinated, wore a coat of mail. He was shot in the head and neck.
