CHRISTCHURCH, December 29. The International Chess Congress was continued, to-day, with the following results:—Fifth Round: Kelling beat James, Barnes beat J. Mason, Davies beat Parker, B. Mason beat Gould, Viner beat Cummings, Stewart beat Sainsbury, Krakanthorp beat Pleasants, Grierson beat Sexton, Edwards beat Gifford. The positions of the various players at the end of the fifth round, finished this afternoon are as follow:—Barnes, 4 wins, liloss; Krakanthorp, 4 wins, 1 loss; Cummings, 2 wins, 3 losses; Davies, 2£ wins, \ loss; Edwards, 2 wins, 1 loss; Forsyth, 1 win, 2 losses; Gifford, & win, 3£ losses; Gould, 0 wins, 4 losses; Grierson, 3£ wins, 1& losses; James, 0 wins, 5 losses; Kelling, 3 wins, 2 losses; Kummer, \\ wins, 2J losses; B. Mason, 4J wins, \ loss; P. Mason, \\ wins, \\ Parker, 3 wins, 1 loss; Pleasants, \ win, 4fc .losses; Sainsbury, I win, 3J losses; Sexton, .2 wins, 3 losses; Steward, 2 wins, 3 losses; Viner, 5 wins, 0 losses. In the sixth round Viner beat Gould. The other games are unfinished.
