MASTERTON RAILWAY STATION.
THE CHAMBER OP COMMERCE'S
REQUESIS,
Mr A. W. Hogg, M.11.K., is in receipt of a letter from the Minister of Railways with reference to the Maeterton Ghnmber of Commerce's requests for ft more up-to-date crane and weighbridge at the Masterton Railway Station. The Minister ntutes that there is at present uo pressing necessity for a fixed crane capable of lifting heavy weights. A two ton orane is always available at Masterton and a fiveton travelling nraue can be procured at short notice. He could not see bis way to authorise the provision of a more powerful crane at the present time. With regard to the weighbridge the Minister states that a euitable machine is now available, and will be placed in position as soon as the contemplated alterations to the railway yard are carried out. The alterations to tlie railway yard are recognised as a pressing neoessi'jy, and have teen noted, among the urgent works for the next financial ' year, owing to the fact that the work canhot be undertaken at present for want, of funds.
