MELBOURNE, December 24. While a motor-car, crowded with passengers, was turning a treacher- ■ ous corner at Hevlesville it became unmanageable. The j driver, to avoid running down a steep hill, turned the car into a bank.
Miss Gidley and Mr Pemberton, who were engaged to be married, were thrown out of the car. The wheels passed over both, dreadfully injuring the woman, and breaking both of Pemberton's legs. The two injured people remained on the roadside jffour and a half hours before aid reached them.
Miss Gidley died soon afterwards,
