The Right Hon. James Bryce, Chief Secretary for Ireland, has been appointed to succeed Sir Mortimer Durand as Ambassador to the United States. CANADIANS NOT PLEASED. Received December 22, 8.25 a.m. OTTAWA, December 21. Canadians are not over-pleased at Mr Bryce's appointment to Washington. They mistrust him and consider he overlooked Canadian interests in the past. His programme and tendencies are also disliked.
