There is too much to do, the Minister says, to permit of rest just now." Crs J. C. Ewington, F. W. temple, the Town Clerk, Borough Engineer, and Messrs W. M. Cole and J. Wrigley visited the Wrigley estate in Pine Street, yesterday afternoon, to consider the proposed scheme for roading the estate. The first proposal made by the Trustees of the estate was to form a road through the estate from Pine Street to Villa Street. They also submitted in writing an alternative scheme for running a road, through the estate from Pine Street to Cole Street. -Nothing definite was decided in the matter, yesterday, owing to all the members of the committee of the Borough Council not being present.

"This man is a problem; he has a mania for collecting refuse," said Corporation Inspector Doyle at the Wellington Police Court, on Wednesday, of a man named James Phillips," who pleaded guilty to having kept poultry in a place which was not a properly-constructed poultry house. The Inspector went on to state that the defendant filled every house he went into with all kinds of refuse which was more or less offensive. Dal r rymple—fined the defendant £l, in default seven days' imprisonment. An old resident of the colony died at Palmerston North on Wednesday evening, in the person of' Mrs John Bowden. The deceased, who had attained the age of 75 years, arrived in Dunedin in the year 1862, and resided there until the death of her husband some twelve years ago. Since then she has lived in the North Island, for the past nine years at Napier. At the time of her death she was visiting her daughter, Mrs A. J. Graham, and had been'in Palmerston North for about six weeks. She has left a family of eight. They are:—Messrs Wm.
