GLADSTONE.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Wednesday. A meeting of members of the 'Gladstone Rifle Club was held in the Town Hall last night. Those present were sworn in before Mr W. C. Buchanan, J.P., and the Club is now a Defence Club. Prizes in connection with the Presbyterian Sunday School were presented to the successful scholars on Sunday afternoon last at the local church, when there was a large attendance. The first oat crop of the season was harvested here to-day on Mr F. Sexton's farm.' The crop was a very good one considering the dry spring.
