f HENDERSON CUP. STAB v. CARLTON A. The matoh between the Star and 'Carlton teams was commenced oh the Fatk Oval on Thursday. Carlton tatted first. O'Leary and Swan opened the innings, but at 3 Swan retired l.b.w. Waters joined O'Leary, and the score was taken to 17 before Waters retired , for 9. Darvill and O'Leary made a useful stand, and zaised the score to 35 before O'Leary retired after making 17. He gave two chances. JJarvill retired two runs later, and F. Welch and Congdon added 10 more runs to the score before the latter returned to the pafilion. Prow and Welch made a useful stand, and 65 was up before Welch lost Prow, who was bowled by Fysb for 12, made by nioe cricket. The remaining (tickets carried the scoru to 83. F. Welch .played well for his 13 iuna, as did N. Boyd for 11 (not put). Fyeb was the most successful tiowler, taking 7 wickets for 40 runr.

Maakellar and Esson were first to represent Star, and they piled up the runs in One style, until tiwan caught Maokeliar off Hoar. The total was 36, of which the retiring hatsman had made 19 by free hitting. Esson and Fyeh were not associated long, for at 38 Waters sent. Esson to the pavilion by a fine oatob off Hoar.
