PAHIATUA STOCK SALES. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., held their sale at Pahiatua, on Tuesday, instead of next week, on account of the Christmas holidays, and notwithstanding 1 the alteration in the date, a large entry of both sheep and cattle came forward. There was a good attendance of buyers, and competition for sheep ■ and young cattle was brisk. Practically no bullocks were yarded. Aged ewes with lambs (all counted) sold at 8s 9d, 4-tooth wethers 15s Bd, 2-year steers 58s 6d, yearling steers and heifers 25s to 38s 6d, 18-months and 2-year heifers 365, empty heifers 37s 6d, 3 and 4-year steers (mixed colours) 84s, aged empty cows 25s to 275, aged cows with calves 37s 6d, 2-year Ayrshire bull 655. At the Pahiatua sale of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., yesterday, sheep were represented by wethers, only. All classes of cattle were yarded excepting grown steers. The quality throughout was very fair, and competition was good, a clearance being effected. Two and 3-year steers made £3 to £3 10s 6d, 18-months steers 555, yearlings 30s to 40s, empty heifers 35s to 455, store cows 355, dairy heifers 80s, store wethers 14s 3d. SALE OF DAIRY STOCK. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report as follows on their dairy sale on Mr Rowe's Farm, Opaki, yesterdoy:—We offered 45 dairy cows, young stock, horses and pigs. The pick of the cows made £6, others £4 to £5, dry cows from £3, cows and calves 60s, weaner pigs 13s to 14s. The bulk of the horses failed to sell.
