ANNUAL DISTRIBUTION OF PRIZES. ' The annual entertainment and distribution of prizes in connection with MissgL. E. Hampton's Girls* Collegiate Sobool took place io S. Matthew's Sohoolroom, last even- | mgi 'lhere was o large atteudauoe of parent and friends of tha pupils. The room was tastefully decorated wifh evorgreane, samples of the work of the pupils, and a number, of Christmas and New Year oard-j. The following is the prize l'efc:--Good conduct, Glanya Qaaintreil; beat work during the year, Gladys Quaiiitrell; English, composition and spelling, Jeaunie Sellar; Lr.tsn and French, Gladys QuaintreH; history and geography Jennie aellar (a parents prize); mathematios, Vera Keith; drawing and writiug, Vera Keith; arithmetic and writing, Jeanie Sellai; elocution, Gladys Quaintrell, Gludya Daniell, Dorothy Moore, equal; music, Gladys Quaintrell (Miss Hamilton's prize); attendance and punctuality, Vera Keith 1, Ofa Ross 2; endeavour, Freda Rcdrnaa (Mrs Seller's prizo); drill, Dorothy Moore (Miss Thomas' prize) 1, Rita Hampton (parent's prize) 3; geueral knowledge, Mary Lanydon; scripture, Gladys Quaintrell, (Rev. D. O. Hampton's prize). Lower division—lmprovement, Ofa Robs; drawing, Kita Hampton; reading and arithmetic, Nellie Kendall; drawing and writing, Katie'te lan; advanced drawing, Miss.Suttnn.'l, Miss Robins 2 (Miss Hilda Hampton's prizes). - s During the evening tlio following programme was reudared:—Pianoforte solo, Miaa Hampton: recitation, "Slightly Mixed," Miss P. Redman; scene from Shakespeare (King Lear, Act 1., scene I) Lear, King of Britain, Miss G. Daniell; King of France, Miss G. Quaintrell; Duke of Burgundy, Miss V. Keith; Duke of Cornwall, Miss M. Hunt; Duke of Albany, Mias T. Jackson; Earl of Gloucester, Miss D. Te Tau; Earl of Kent, Miss D. Moore; Goneril, Miss J. Miller; Regan, Miss J. Sellar; Cordelia, Misa F. Redman; recitation, "Something In My Pocket," Mise R. Hampton; pianoforte solo, Miss Hampton; verses, "Days of the Week"— Misses V. Lang, Sunday; O. Ross, Monday; J. Sellar, Tuesday; F. Redman, Wednesday; R. HnmptonJ Thursday; Q. Te lau, Friday; K. le Tau, Saturday; recitation, "Battle of Hohefiliudeu," Misa G. Quaintrell; hand drill by pupils (accompanist, Miss Hamrton); recitation, "Aunt Tabitna," Miss W Daulell; wand drill by pupils. At a suitable interval Rev. A. M. Johnson, on behalf of the parents of the children attending the sobool, presented Mies Hampton with a handsome silver scent bottle and a powder box. BDd Miss Hilda Hauip. ton with two beautiful specimen silver vases and a gold pin. Mr Johnson spofea in eulogistio terms of the work that had been done at the, school. The Rev. J. N. Buttle Spoke in a similar strain. The gifts were suitably acknowledged. Refreshments were provided by the pupils, and tno gathering was brought to u close witn a dance.
