WAIRARAPA CALEDONIAN SOCIETY.
MEETING OF DIEECTOES. A meeting of the Directors of the "Wairarapa Caledonian Society was held on Saturday afternoon. There were present—Messrs J. H. Pauling (Chairman), J. McHattie, T. Wyeth, E. E. Chamberlain, W. L. Falconer, A. Fraser, J. C. McKillop, J. B, McKenzie, D. McLachlan, A. McLeod, W. Sellar, E. H, Waddington, and J. Harvey. A letter was received from Mr W. Butler, of Martinborough, returning complimentary tickets, and expressing surprise that his name had been used as a donor of a gold medal in connection with the sports on New Year's Day. He stated that he had not authorised any person to make such a promise on his behalf. The Secretary was instructed to point out to Mr Butler that he had certainly made the offer to Mr A. Fraser personally. Mr Pauling explained that a medal had been ordered by the Society to replace the one in dispute. The Secretary was , instructed to take out a new insurance policy to cover the Society's employees on the day of the sports. The resignations of Messrs H. E. Andrews and C. A. Tabateau were accepted. Messrs D. Sutherland, E. D.McFarlane, M. Campbell, W. Fife, G. Lawry, and J. O'Meara were elected members of the Society. Mr P. Kirkby's tender at £6 2s 6d for the fruit stall at the Sports was accepted. Mr E. Polling's offer of £5 for the luncheon booth at the sports was accepted. The President's action in inviting the members to attend the funeral of the late Mrs John Scott was endorsed, and the Secretary was instructed to forward a letter of condolence to Mr Scott.
CONCERT COMMITTEE. The Concert Committee also met on Saturday afternoon, there being present Messrs J. H. Pauling (Chairman), T. "Wyeth, J. McHattie, E. E. Chamberlain, A. Fraser, J. B. McKenzie, W. Sellar, E. H. Waddington, and J. C. McKillop. The offers made by the following to contribute items at the concert on New Year's night were accepted:— Madame Marie Gfoome, Miss Lynn Mills, Messrs J. F. Carr, W. Iggulden, Gordon Stewart, A. Nicol, W. G. Norman, E. Henry, S. J, Johnstone, T. "W. Eodgers, and H. Inns. The Secretary was instructed to write to other local artists asking whether they would contribute items at the concert.
