AN IMPORTANT JUDGMENT. LONDON, December 14.j The Houße of Lords—the final Appeal Court in the United Kingdom in all civil cases—has reversed the judgment of the Court of Appeal in the West Biding case, holding that it is the duty of the local authorities under the Act of 1902 to pay for religious instruction in non-provided as well as in provided schools.Beceived December 16, 4.45 p.m. LONDON, December 15. The House of Lords' judicial decisipn in the West Riding case was unani. mous. PASSIVE RESISTORS FINED. LONDON, December 14. Dr Clifford and a number of Nonconformist ministers have been fined for the eleventh time at Paddington for passive resistance to the education rate.
