HOME RULE MOVEMENT.

A meeting o£ the Irish Envoy Reception Committee was held la the Master ton Teobnioal School building on Saturday evening. Rev. Dean MoKenna occupied the chair. 'lhe Chairman , explained that it was probable that there would be no address given by either Mr Devlin or Mr Donovan, the Irish Envoys, in Masterton, as Mr Devlin was going to Rotorua after the Wellington meeting to recuperate his health. Mr Devlin would not be able to resume bis meetings until about January 7th at New Plymouth, and he would leave New Zealand on February 2nd. Mr Devlin ouuld not come eo Maaterton on the date previously arranged (December 22nd), and the sub-oommittee thought tnafc a meeting held at a later date would hot be the suocess they would like it to he.

Mr J. Yarr was strongly in favour of Inviting the delegates to speak in Masterton. He considered that a meeting held in Masterton late in January woo Id be just as sao oessful as one held before Christmas. He thought that arrangements should be made for the Envoys to speak in Masterton at a later date. Mr Doian moved—"J?hat while regretting that the meeting for Oeoember 22nd in Masterton could not be arranged owing to the illness of Mr Devlin, the secretary be instructed to make arrangement? for a meeting in Masterton on or about January 15tb, 1907." Mr Yarr seconded the motion, ' which was carried unanimously. . A subscription list was opened in the room, and the- following amounts wete promised:—M. O. O'Connell £5 ss, Rev. Dean Mo Kenna £3 3s, St. Bride's Convent £3 3s, Rev. Father Kelly £2 2s, B. J. Dolan £2 2s, P. O'Leary. £1 Is, A. Haughey £1 le, H. O'Leary £1 Is, S. ConneU £1 Is, J. Kealy 10s, J. Oreelman IDs. O'Leary undertook to take subscription Hats for the purpose of reoeivng funds in aid of the cause.
