London markets. By Talegraph—-Press Association, Received December 10, 9.42 a.m. LONDON, December 9. The latest quotations for frozen meat are:—North Island mutton, River Plate, 3 11-16 d. The market is practioally bare of lambs, no Now Zealand offering. Hares are firmer, owing to the prospeot of short supplies for Christmas; .Is lid is being asked for new uoloziials. Twelve thousand quarters of Victorian January wheat havo been sold at 29s 9d.
LONDON WOOL SALES.
Received Docetnber 10, 9.42 a.m, LONDON, Deonmber 9.
The wool catalogued represented 118,800 bales. Of this quantity there weie sold to Home buyers, 50,000 talem; to Continental buyers, 47,000 bales; to the United States, 8,000 ba'es; 3,000 bales were held over. Compared with opening rates, the values of bast and faulty meiinos were fairly well maintained; medium sorts were slightly weaker., Crossbred fetched fancy prioes throughout and closed at frcm 10 to 15 per cent, above the September rates.
The tone of the market throughout was strong in all lines submitted.
Messrs Dalgety and Co., Wei lington, have received the following oable from their London house, dated Bth instant:—Wool sales closed with prices fairly maintained, but opening values are not maintained for greasy tender wools and greasy wools in heavy and earthy condition; also during thie week Amerioan buyers are operating less freely owing to pressing requirements having buen filled. Greasy super merino wools, prices are on the average 10 per cunt. higher than dosing rates of September series. Good merino wools higher by 5 per cent. . Medium and inferior merino, prioes are oo a par with the last snries closing rates. Scoured merino wools in general, higher by 5 to 7 per oent. Fine orossbreds higher by sto 1)4 per oent. Coarse orossbeeds lO'percent. higher. Sales by private contract, 2,000 bales. Catalogued, 106,900 bales. Out of the net quantity available for sale, some 49,000 bales have been sold for Home consumption, 47,000 bales for the Continent, 8,000 bates for America, leaving 2,000 bal'eß to be forwarded to manafaaturera at Home and abroad. '
LARGE SALE OF ROMNEY RAMa.
Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., have completed a larg9 sale of Romney rams to an Australian client, the total Hale oomcrising 1,062 <wotootb Romney ranis. The first sbipment was made Inst Saturday by the Warrlmoo when 462 rams were consigned to Sydney. The sheep were ft flrst-olass lot, being very even, well grown, and in good condition, and as a line of flock rams probably no better has left the Wairarape. The rams came from tbe following fiooks:—W. J. Nix 132, J. Bidwill 200, H. Wilkinson 80, Gray Bros. 30, J. G. Gates 20. A further shipment for the same order will be made next Saturday, when 290 rams will go by the Moeraki from ihe following flooks:—W. Bidwill 200, W. O. Dorset '7O, Booth Bros. 21. The balance of "the order is being filled from Palmerston North and Blenheim, and the rams go in one line to a large New South Wales breeder. A small trial sbipment was made a few weeks ago, and the buyer was eo pleased with the type of the New Zealand Rom ney that the above order followed. Nest season there is every chance of a large business being done w : tb New South Wales breeders in Romney rams.
