The Magistrate ordereid possession to be given by, January 7th next, and rent to date, amounting to £l2 to be.paid with costs £2 9s. Mr and Mrs Con. Vallanoe met with a serions accident in Queen Street, yesterday afternoon. They were driving along the street in a* gig when the pony shied, and got one of his hind feet caught overthe swingle tree. .Ibe animal swung the vehicle across to the side of the street, and the gig crashed into tbe kerbing of the footpath. Mr Vallanoe was thrown out on to the footpath,: while Mrs Vallanoe fell on to the road, tbe gig oapsizing on top of her. Mr Vailance was uninjured, but Mrs Vallanoe was severely cut about the back of the head. Sbe was removed to Dr. Oowie's. rooms, and attended to by Dr.Cowie. The shaft of tbe gig was broken. Accused pleaded guilty to the first charge, but denied the second. It was alleged by the informant that, accused asked him for 4 a meal on credit, and on being refused accused assaulted him. A fine of £1 was inflioted on eaoh charge, in default 14 days' imprisonment. Tobias Miller was bound over to keep" the peace for three months on a charge of threatening Caleb Yeoman Dally. The sureties were fixed at £2O, v £lo in self and another of the same amount. Another charge against Miller for using provoking language to Dally was dismissed. Accused was ordered to pay £2 14s oostt. The Masterton County Council invite teuders for several oontracta of road formation acid metalling. The New Zealand Railways Department advertise special excursion fares in connection with the Christmas and New Year Holidays.
