MASTERTON POST OFFICE.
PROPOSED ALTERATIONS. The proposed alterations to the local Ppsi Office, tendera for which were oalled on Friday last, seem to point to the necessity for increased accommodation to meet the demands of rapid development of businesH. This is another indication of the remarkable progress of Masterton. The present buildiDg was only entered into in 1900, the downstairs portion being then con sidered equal to requirements for the transaction of postal and tele, graph work for some time to oome. According to the plans and specifications now prepared the whole of the upßtairs space is to be altared and the operating room, telephone exchange, despatch room, and an officers' cloak room, eto., located therein. The Inapcotor of Stock and Grown Lands Ranger are at present oooupyiag the rooms in tne upper storey, and they will hate to find offices elsewhere. Tenders will olOße on the 19th inst., and the work has to be completed within live weeks of the signing of the oontraot.
