The wool sales closed with aotive oom petition. Prices about maintainod tne reoeut improvement. WELLINGTON WOOL SALES. WELLINGTON: Deoemter 7. At to day's wool sales 5,234 bnleH were offered. The quality of wool was somewhat better than in past seasons. There was less Lincoln and more Romney. At the time of last sale the Loudon freight was 3 16d with live per cent, primage. Now it is with ten per cent, primage. RecKoning this in the calculation the average medium crossbred brought nearly %d more than at the last sale, while tine orossbred made an advance of Id. A weakness" of the sale was that a number of bales were withdrawn owing to the growers' idea of . value being different to that of buyers. Aline of fine crossbred brought ls 7%d, others Is 2d, The general range of prices was as follows :-~Halfbreds lid to Is 0%(1, superfine crossbred lid Eo 1h Oy 2 <i. medium to ll%d, coarse lOd to lid, inferior to 1034 d, pieces and bellies 6d to 9%d, looks 3d to sd.
STOOK SALE REPORTS. Messrs Abraham find Williams, Ltd. report- ou their Maryborough stock sale as follows:—At Martinborough on Thursday the flooda presented the sheep advertised coming torwnrd, much to the dieppointment of a great Dumber of buyers wbo came long distances. We had a fair entry of cattle, however, which made a good demand, most of the stook being disposed of under the hammer. With the exception ol! a line of bullocks we sold all we had to offer. We quote as follows:—'Fat cows £4 3a 6d to £5, forward cows £3 7e, three-year steers £4 9s, empty heifers £2 5a to £3, mixed yearlings 29a, well bred 15-months cattle £2 14 s. Meatus Abraham and Williams, Ltd,, report on their Eketahuna siook sale aa follows: At Eketabuna, yesterday, stock came for ward in excess of advertised numbers, the entry being confined to cattle, including several pens of fair quality bullocks. The attendance was large, buyers from a distance being prominent. Business at auction waa keen, bidding at times being animated, with the result that everything, waa sold under the hammer at improved prices. We quote as follows:—-Thiee. and 4-year-old bullooba £5 to £5 10a 6d, 3-year old bullocks £4 9s to £4 10s 6d, 2%-year-old steers £4, mixed yearlings 23s to 335, ?-year empty heifers 30s, yearling heifers 18a, springing hoifera £3, sioie piga 21a.
