The fiist day of the summer meeting of the Woodville Jockey Club commenced, to day, under peculiar climatic conditions. There was a heavy downpour of raiu on the previous day, but this morning the weather broke beautifully flue, and continued so until midday, when heavy rain fell, which lasted for the first four races, I ben it cleared np, and remained beautifully fine for the rest of the day. The attendance of the general public'was very satisfaatory, and speculation was brisk. ' The sum of £7,030 passed through , tho totalieator. which is £1,252 better than tbe corresponding day last year. Theie is every prospect of tbe weather being flue to-morrow. Results:— Maiden Plate—Dnn Leno 1, Lord Rosebeny 2, Goruzou 3. Scratched —Catapult, (3rand Poplar, Deucalion, Oak burn and Poarlie. Won comfortably by two lengths. Time, lmin 48 3 usee. Submarine 1 Operetta 2 Par'tutn 3 Soratolud—Ngntarua, Nova, Maharauui, Montigo and Mataari. This was a magnificent race. At the distance most of the horses were in a line, and all appeared to bavo a show. Near the post Submarine drew out and won by a length. Time, 2min 11 2 sseo. Dividends, £3 5s audi £1 4s.
