WAIRARAPA DISTRICT HOSPITAL BOARD.

ANNUAL MEETING. Tho annual meeting of the Wairarapa District Hospital Board was held in the Mantevtou County Office yesterday, there were pre-sen"-,—Messrs E. G. Eton (chairman), W. Fisher, W. Perry, P. W. H. Kurnmer, D. Crewe, W. J. Welch, J. C. Ewingr.on, W. H. Bee'ham, M. Maxton, A. Moss, and A. 0. Oonsidine. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs D. Guild and A. J. Speedy. The Treasurer reported as follows for the period from April Ist to December 3rd, 1906:—Balance April Ist, 1906, contributions £1,573 17s 3J (ordinary maintenance £790 12s 9d, infectious diseases hospitals £783 4s 6d), subsidies £1,695 6s 3d, making the total receipts £3,352 3s 2d; expenditure £1,557 9s 4d (including Mastertou Hospital £561 10s, South Wairarapa Hospital £SOB 13s 9d, Pahiatna Hospital leaving a credit balance at date of £1764 13s lOd.

It was.decided, on tbe motion of Mr Welch, that the Trustees of tba separate institutions in the district be asked to formulate a scale of oharges for patients in fever hospitals, if they have not already done so, and furnish a statement in detail of amounts received on that account. A letter was reoeived from the Mastertoa Borough Council asking th'it an ambulance wagon bo provided for the town; also thnt more accommodation be 'provided for cases of infectious diseases in Masterton. The letter was referred to the Masterfcon Hospital Trustees for consideration. The North Canterbury Hospital Board wrote asking for support in the matter of urging . upon the Minister for Pnblio Health the necessity of establishing Domes for chronic aad incurable cases in various centresj instead of accommodating such oases in the present hospitals. The Hoard decided to give its. support in the matter. it was deoided to hold tbe next meeting on March 27tb. The Secretary was instructed to take steps to have the land on which the Greytown Hospital Trustees have commenced to build an Infectious 'Diseases Hospital conveyed from the Trustees to the Board. The Treasurer was authorised to pay the Greytown Trustees the sum of £lO3 already spent on the building. The Chairman was authorised to engage an arobitout to prepare specifications and estimates of the cost of the (erection of Infectious Diseases Hospitals in Masterton aad Pabiatua.
