CRICKET NOTES.

The Carterton' team had an easy "wid over the W.F.C.A. on the No. 1 wicket yesterday. , The second innings of the Carterton team produued 55 rone, of whioh Bart contributed 19 (not oat) by jjood cricket. His score included lonrS's. . JMaunsell played nicely for 14, of whioh 12 were saored by 3's. C. Fairtrotder contributed 13 by some hard bitting. The team batted two men short. Hall howled in fine style and sent ■down some really good balls. His analysis reads: Overs 10 1-3, maidens 3, rnns 20, wickets 6. The-W.P.O.A.'a seoond innings -was very much of a procession. WilJiams (8), Parton (t 6ot out) and Pragnell (13) put some life into the play while they!were at the wickets, •but the others did not know what to do with Maunsell's bowling, and the innings closed for 36. Maunsell was right on the wicket, anahia bowling completely puzzled the batsmen. His analysis reads:— Overa 7, maidens 1, runs 18, wickets 8. " Phelps Becured 1 wicket for 12. Like the Carterton-W.F.C. A. match'the Carlton B-Star match was *ery one-sided. The seoond innings of the Star 'team closed for 108, after m<icb time had been wasted wailing for the Star players to turn up. It was •after 3 .o'clock when the Star men went to the wickets. / The Carlton B's second innings iprOdaaed '42' runs, the Stars thus winning by. 104 runs. Dlgnnn played a good innings for '■the Carlton team, and was iii flearly the whole of the innings , for his 9 iuus. J. Wickens, jnr., was the liext highest scorer with 8. Edwards bowled splendidly, and secured 6 wickets for 17. At one stage of the game he had taken 4 wickets for 5 runs. MoLean sent <down 5 balls and secured 2 wickets ior 4 runs. Fysh took 1 wioket :for 12 rnns. He bowled 9 overs. The Star fielding was on the whole fairly good, but the running between ■the wickets of some of the Carlton jnen would have disgraced a fifth•class team. , It is stated that tno team that is * 'to represent the Carlton A against •Carterton will be the strongest that =the clnb haß ever pat in the field. Three new players are to be included in the team.
