Jowett, of Oarr's Lane Congregational Church, Birm- ' Ingham, presiding at a speoial assembly of the Congregational Union i at the City Temple, said they had met to accept a challenge and present -an ultimatum. Anything ( contrary to the popular control of education ;or the abolition of tests must be , summarily and immediately rejected. A resolution in 1 that sense was adopted with enthusiasm.
