BUILDERS' FEDERATION.

WANGANUI, November 27. ' The seventh annual meeting of the Builders' Federation was held, today, and basiness was finished in the afternoon.

Mr W. H. Bennett, of Wellington, was elected President, and Mr A. G. Uignell, of AVanganui, Vice President.

Tbo next conference is to be held in Napier in October next. It was resolved that the Conference urge the Government to grant a subsidy which shall give apprentices free education at leohnical Schools; that tha question of the cost of copies of uouditioos of contract be reviewed; that a special non-political committee be [set up by each branch of the Fedeiation to further the adoption of the conditions of contraot; that the Government be urged to conserve native timbers; that the Government grant a builder greater security over land on which he is erecting buildings than the law at present provides; that the attention of the Public Works Department be directed to the unfairness of inviting tenders tor works a second time without alteration of the plans and specifications; that copies of conditions of contract be supplied to practising architects provided they do not follow the business of a builder; that a Ivy of 39 6d be made on each member for the ensuing year.
